ACC Houston Scholarship Application 2026

Up to twelve (12) $5,000 Law School Scholarships to be awarded by the ACC Houston Chapter to law students in their 1st or 2nd year and who meet certain criteria.

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Houston Chapter intends to grant up to twelve (12) $5,000 scholarships. These scholarships are open to all qualified students from the three Houston-area law schools – South Texas College of Law Houston, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and the University of Houston Law Center regardless of race, color, sex, gender, religion, national origin, citizenship status, age, genetic information, physical or mental disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or other legally protected status.  The scholarships are intended to be, and should be, used by the law student for tuition and other expenses directly related to law school, otherwise the scholarship money will be taxable income to the student.

Students at your school are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.  Applicants must be in their first or second year of law school.  Additionally, the following criteria will be evaluated by the selection committee:

  1. Enrollment at one of the Houston-area law schools;
  2. Academic accomplishment (i.e., Student transcript reflecting the student’s calculated law school GPA and overall ranking);
  3. Resume;
  4. A head shot; and
  5. One (1) Essay (limit 1000 words):
    1. Introducing yourself to the Scholarship Committee,
    2. Discussing the importance of inclusion in the legal profession, and
    3. Demonstrating your financial need, if applicable.

 

If students are interested in applying for the scholarships, they should complete and submit the application along with required additional documents. To be considered complete, application packages must include (1) the application, (2) current academic transcript (unofficial is acceptable), (3) resume, (4) picture (headshot), and (5) the essay as described above.

The scholarships will be awarded no later than the end of March 2026, and scholarship recipients will be invited to the ACC Houston Scholarship Reception and Dinner in March or April 2026.

I hereby grant to the Association of Corporate Counsel Houston Chapter and the Association of Corporate Counsel National Organization (collectively “ACC”) the right to verify any information provided on this application, as well as anything submitted to ACC with this application, including but not limited to my résumé, academic transcript, and essay, for consideration of an ACC Houston Chapter Law School Scholarship.

I further authorize ACC to provide copies of my résumé, transcript, and essay which I submit in the application package to any company and/or individual which may sponsor a mini-internship that I may participate in, or to any company, law firm, individual, or other entity which expresses an interest in obtaining a copy of such information, based upon my receipt of an ACC Houston Chapter Scholarship.

I hereby provide my written consent to the ACC Houston Chapter and to any member of the ACC Houston Chapter board to obtain an official academic transcript from any law school in which I am currently enrolled as may be needed to fully evaluate my application for an ACC Houston Chapter Scholarship.

I further acknowledge that, if I am awarded an ACC Houston Chapter Scholarship, if the scholarship money is used for any purpose other than tuition and/or other expenses directly related to law school that I will be required to report the scholarship money as taxable income.

I will also try to update my contact information on file with the ACC Houston Chapter by sending such updates to [email protected] for the next five (5) years so that I can be contacted regarding future ACC events to which the ACC Houston Chapter may wish to invite me.

I hereby certify, by my signature below, that the information in my application package, including my résumé, essay, and transcript, is true and complete, and I acknowledge and agree that providing any false information in my application package will be grounds for my elimination from consideration for an ACC Houston Chapter Scholarship.
