Perfecting the Partnership:
How in-house counsel can work strategically with their tax department, including tax considerations for financial transactions

Compliance with federal, state and international taxation requirements is a necessary part of doing business. While some in-house counsel do their best to steer clear of tax issues, legal departments derive value from effective collaboration with their colleagues in tax departments. There are several barriers to collaboration, including separate reporting lines for the tax and legal departments. However, the benefits of collaboration can be substantial. And, mergers and acquisitions create significant opportunities to produce value resulting from an integrated tax and legal strategy. Hear how tax directors and in-house counsel have learned to “play well in the sandbox,” supporting one another, and saving their companies money at the local, state and federal tax level.
