Rise of the New Intelligence. Emerging Legal and Ethical Considerations

The rapidly increasing value related to the monetization and enhanced analytics of Big Data is quickly changing the landscape for businesses across the globe and reshaping the economy, and unlocking hidden potential, value, and legal challenges. Almost no industry is off limits. Industries like insurance, healthcare, retail, financial intuitions, electronics and others have embraced Big Data for a while now, while other industries like energy, transportation, construction, and equipment manufacturing are still gaining their foothold. While Big Data brings the promise of new products, services, insights, and revenue streams, it also brings a bevy new legal challenges, including privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, antitrust, regulatory enforcement, licensing, and more. We will explore these legal issues, how they are being addressed now, and what the future might hold, and how Big Data may be impacted by regulation.
